Our firm originated as a result of two important aspects: creativity and necessity where the first helped us discover the latter and out of both emerged the entrepreneurial vision that allowed us to Lead the Way for more than a decade in a demanding and competitive field.

During the Eighties, what started as creative hobby, became a novelty within the women's shoe market. We realized that the Costa Rican shoe market had growing needs and that we had a unique opportunity for innovation on our hands. Knowing that consumer tastes were oriented towards diversity, we improved shoe design for women and imported a limited, though effective, number of varieties that were widely accepted in the national market and created immediate demand.

The shoe market was opening before us as a viable business opportunity. Along with local production, we entered into the business of importing high-quality and competitively priced name-brands. CIMO became pioneers in a field lacking investment capital and with only a limited capacity for distribution. Hence, we slowly introduced ourselves into a national market, transforming our expertise as designers into success as importers and distributors. Throughout the Nineties, CIMO became the leading shoe importer and distributor as representatives of worldwide brands.
